Finding unusual Christmas presents for kids these days isn’t easy. They are often overloaded with all kinds of electronic toys and gadgets as they unwrap presents they find under the tree on Christmas morning.
As you contemplate unique Christmas presents, maybe it’s time to think creatively. Perhaps a gift more like one elves would make and put on Santa’s sleigh would be in order. Haven’t we all heard a story about children who open high tech presents, only to have more fun playing with the box?
Maybe the unusual Christmas presents are those that let you get back to the basics during holiday shopping for your kids. Amidst all the stress of the season, wouldn’t you like to give a gift that brings pure joy? Consider this story as you ponder the children on your Christmas list.
When my wife and I moved into a house in the country with my then two-year-old daughter, we found an old tire swing in the barn. I bought some rope and hung it off a high bar at the end of a heavy-duty swing set.
That tire swing brought more joy to my children than all the Christmas gifts they received in our 14 years there combined. I can close my eyes and hear them laugh as they urge me to push them higher and higher.
I’m so glad we found that swing because I probably wouldn’t have thought to buy one. To be honest, I don’t a store that carries them.
But I know where you can find tire swings and other playground equipment that will have your kids jumping for joy.
A tire swing or other playground equipment can be one of the greatest and the most unusual Christmas presents you buy this year. Your kids will remember it for years to come.
